STAKEHOLDERS MEET AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE REVISION OF THE INSTRUMENT FLIGHT PROCEDURE FOR THE FREETOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The air navigation service provider, the Sierra Leone Airport Authority (SLAA) through the assistance and support of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) engaged the services of African Flight Procedure Programme (AFPP) for the revision of the Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) for the Freetown International Airport. The exercise officially commenced today, 16 December, 2024 with a meeting of the Stakeholders to ensure broad participation in the IFP project. The stakeholders meeting is the second to hold for the IFP revision. The first stakeholders meeting took place on the 2nd of December, 2024 at the SLCAA Conference Hall, Lungi to create awareness for the IFP project.
The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Regulations (SLCARs) require that IFPs are periodically revised to ensure that they continue to comply with changing criteria, and continue to meet user requirements. Among the benefits of implementing IFP are reduced risk of air accidents, standardised operations, emergency preparedness, optimised flight routes, reduced delays and fuel efficiency.
