SLCAA STRENGTHENS GLOBAL AVIATION PARTNERSHIPS AT ICAO GISS 2026 IN MARRAKECH
The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) has reinforced its commitment to advancing aviation safety, regulatory excellence, and international collaboration following its participation in the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2026, held in Marrakech.
Representing Sierra Leone at this high-level global forum, the SLCAA joined aviation leaders, regulators, and industry stakeholders from across the world to exchange best practices and drive collective progress in aviation implementation, capacity building, and safety oversight.
On the margins of the symposium, the SLCAA delegation held strategic engagements with the UK Civil Aviation Authority Safety Team, focusing on deepening technical cooperation and accelerating efforts to address key safety priorities.
These discussions are part of Sierra Leone’s broader roadmap toward exiting international aviation safety monitoring frameworks and enhancing compliance with global standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Speaking on the significance of the engagement, the Director General of SLCAA emphasized that participation in global platforms such as GISS is critical to strengthening institutional capacity and fostering partnerships that support sustainable aviation development.
“Our engagement at GISS 2026 underscores Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment to improving aviation safety oversight and aligning with international best practices. Through strengthened collaboration with key partners, we are making steady progress toward enhancing regulatory effectiveness and positioning Sierra Leone as a safe and attractive destination for international airlines.”

The symposium provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, technical dialogue, and partnership-building, all of which are essential to strengthening Sierra Leone’s aviation ecosystem. The SLCAA continues to prioritize investments in regulatory frameworks, human capital development, and operational efficiency to meet evolving global aviation demands.
As Sierra Leone advances its aviation modernization agenda, the Authority remains focused on achieving full compliance with international safety standards, boosting investor confidence, and facilitating increased air connectivity to support national economic growth.
